Adeline Halvorson B. 1957
Catch A Breeze
12x9” oil
Estimate - $600-$800
Adeline Halvorson knew at an early age that she wanted to be an artist. In her rural upbringing, animals, especially horses, played a very important role. She spends most of her time researching and creating the paintings she markets to a growing group of collectors. Years of riding and grooming horses have given Halvorson a knowledge of anatomy and muscle movement that her painting skills bring to life on the canvas. The shapes and movement of muscle, variety and texture of harness and trappings, as well as the horse and its interaction with its human counterparts provide endless artistic inspiration for one who grew up with a love for one of the world’s most beautiful animals.
Halvorson received the Outstanding Artistic Achievement award from the Calgary Stampede in 2014, as well as winning Best of Show in 2012, 2009 and 1995. She was also the Calgary Stampede poster artist in 2013 and her original painting used in the poster sold at auction for $125,000.
Halvorson had the high selling painting at the 2022 Charlie Russell First Strike Auction, with a hammer price of $40,000.
