Amber Schmidt has been a painter and a bead artist for over 20 years. The intent of Schmidt's work is artistic expression based on personal experiences and a deep connection to nature and the indigenous community near her home in Northern Alberta. Many of her modern pieces, which can be found at the Jasper Art Gallery, are ink based, abstract and feature beadwork. Her work on skulls feature painted scenes and designs with leather, beadwork, genuine gemstones and precious metals. Using bison or longhorn skulls, Schmidt brings to life modern and historical themes of western lifestyle.
Schmidt has completed a program in Graphic Art and Design through the Visual College of Art and Design, and is an active member of the Jasper Artists Guild.
