Michelle Vigeant grew up with a love for horses, art and dance. Her drawing talent was apparent at an early age which led to a number of art classes and workshops though Gail Adams School of Art. Here, Vigeant was introduced to the pastel medium where her realism skills rapidly improved – creating artworks that won many awards including Best of Show at the annual Reflections of Nature Wildlife Art Show and the Prairieland Fine Art Competition in Saskatoon.
Desire for change and new opportunity brought Vigeant and her young family to Calgary, Alberta in 1999. With a growing desire to experiment with a looser style, Vigeant added acrylics and larger canvases to her portfolio – with horses being the main subject focus.
In 2015 Vigeant was the winning artist for the Spruce Meadows 40th Annual Commemorative Poster. In 2020 she was accepted to exhibit her work at Calgary Stampede's Western Showcase. Her more recent works are in oil, which portray an expressive realism that captures the natural spirit of the animal or subject.
