Ray Swirsky is a contemporary western oil painter from Calgary, Alberta, who began painting full time in 2017. He developed a deep connection with nature growing up in B.C, and this is evident in his stunning landscape and animal paintings. An active plein-air painter, Swirsky is forever seeking the colours that exist in nature. When in studio he works pushing strong colours with high contrast to make his works come alive.
Swirsky is a member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, the Alberta Society of Artists, Artists for Conservation, Oil Painters of America, and a founding member of the newly formed First Nations Arts Alliance. He has been an exhibitor at the Calgary Stampede Artist’s Studio (since 2019), Spruce Meadows Masters, Calgary Art Market and The Great Western Art Show in Montana.
His work is found in numerous private and corporate collections throughout Canada, the United States, the UK and South Africa.
