Although working professionally as an artist since the mid-1970s, Schnurrenberger came to Canada from Switzerland with his wife a decade earlier. He worked as an illustrator and draftsman before following his passion in painting the life of working cowboys. He would cowboy on interior British Columbia ranches whenever he had a chance just to keep his subject matter authentic. In recent years, Schnurrenberger as been concentrating more on figure painting and landscapes and no longer does solo gallery exhibitions.
